The Malaysia My Second Home Programme (MM2H) was initiated by the Malaysian Government to welcome all foreigners to reside in Malaysia with a 10 years Social Visit Pass (SVP) & Multiple Entry Visa (MEV) in high flexibility. |

Previously known as the Silver Hair programme (1996-2002), the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme was set up to promote Malaysia as an attractive second or permanent home for foreigners and to date, the programme has attracted more than 8,000 participants. |

Under the new guidelines, applicants below aged 50 need to put RM300,000 in a fixed deposit in a local bank and are allowed to withdraw up to RM240,000 after one year. The funds can only be used to buy a house, or to cover medical or education expenses. |
| |
| Applicants can apply for the programme without going through a third party but they must possess a valid medical insurance policy and must pass the police and immigration departments' security checks. |

| |
All applicants are required to have a fixed deposit account in any banks in Malaysia which must be active for the duration of the applicant's permitted length of stay. The proof of income from abroad can be at least 3 months income statement. |

| |
| The applicants can choose to open a fixed deposit account of RM150,000; or show proof of monthly off-shore income at least equivalent to RM10,000. |

| If they chose the fixed deposit, withdrawal are allowed of up to RM90,000 for the purchase of house, medical insurance or children's education expenses after the deposit has been placed for one year. |

| The participants must maintain a minimum balance of RM60,000 throughout their stay in Malaysia under this programme |

| From 1st March 2006 onwards, the above financial requirements will be replaced by a new condition. The new financial requirement will just be fixed deposit of US$75,000 or equivalent amount in Ringgit Malaysia. The fixed deposit account maintained may be in US$ or Ringgit Malaysia. |

Insurance Coverage / Medical Report |
| |
| Applicants must have a medical insurance that includes coverage in Malaysia or extend their existing policies to include medical coverage in Malaysia. Applicants above 50 years of age need not provide proof of medical insurance if this is not available. |

| However, applicants must provide their latest medical report for submission process and once approval is obtained applicants have to obtain a local medical report in Malaysiaa |

Government Tax |
| |
| The successful applicants are bound by the policies, systems and regulation of tax of Malaysia. However, tax exemption is given to pension which is remitted into Malaysia. |

| The approval is for a term of 10 years and can be extended every 10 years and applicants will be issued with Multiple Entry Visas |

Fees |

The fee for the Social Visit Pass under Malaysia My Second Home programme is RM90 per year and the fee can be paid in full for a 10 year period for RM900. |
