Balik Pulau to get new image with project

PENANG : Balik Pulau is about to shed its image as a backwater town known for its durian plantations, as a property developer is due to launch high-end residential landed properties there. |

Focus Estate Sdn Bhd plans to launch 38 double-storey semi-detached houses and 10 bungalows at its Fortune Residences project at the end of this year and in mid-2007 respectively. |

“We will kick off with the development of the semi-detached houses, to be priced from RM500,000 onwards, in December.

“The bungalows, to be priced from RM650,000, will be launched in mid-2007,” project manager Lim Kian Kim said. |

He said the company had sold 70% of the 122 double-storey terrace houses since the project launch in February and the response was good because of the large built-up area of the units.

“We are providing between 1,800 and 2,000 sq ft in built-up area for the houses, which are priced between RM325,000 and RM465,000. This is larger than the conventional size of between 1,400 and 1,600 sq ft for linked houses.”

Lim said the terrace houses were scheduled for completion in mid-2007.

The other selling point of Fortune Residences is its location near a RM17mil dry and wet market, a municipal council complex and a bus terminal, which are currently undergoing construction.

“These projects are expected to be completed in mid-2007,” Lim said.
|

Fortune Residence is also about 15 minutes from Bandar Air Putih, a 300 acre self-contained township project to be developed over a 10-year period.
