UEM Sunrise Acquires Two Land Parcels In Melbourne

One of Malaysia’s leading property developers, UEM Sunrise Berhad (UEM Sunrise) has acquired two prime freehold land parcels in Melbourne Australia, marking its maiden venture in the Australian market.

Notably, Australia has been identified as one of the key countries under the company's strategic regional expansion plan, according to Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim.

The land parcels are located on LaTrobe Street and Mackenzie Street and have a land area of 3,197 sq ft and 2,030 sq ft, respectively. The LaTrobe site has excellent frontages to LaTrobe Street and Little LaTrobe Street, while the Mackenzie site enjoys excellent frontages to Mackenzie Street and the Carlton Gardens and from Drummond Street.

Both sites are within close proximity to various schools, commercial and transport amenities. They also have existing commercial tenancies.

The land parcels will be redeveloped as premium residential developments with retail component, and infused with arts and culture to achieve an edgy and vibrant mixed-use community within the developments.

To ensure that the projects will have the most remarkable designs, UEM Sunrise has shortlisted three renowned Australia-based architectural firms – COX Architecture, Elenberg Fraser and Fender Katsalidis Architects – for an invited design competition.

“We aspire to create projects that are of valuable addition to the city skyline, and which showcases our ability to deliver quality and unique offerings and products,” said Dato’ Wan Abdullah.
